Finding Your Way Home: How iSupportedHousing Makes Referrals Simple and Life-Changing

For many people, especially those facing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges, accessing stable housing can feel like an overwhelming and confusing process. At iSupportedHousing, we believe that a secure home is the first step to rebuilding lives, and we’re here to make that journey as accessible and dignified as possible.

Whether you’re a frontline support worker looking to refer someone or an individual ready to make a change in your life, this guide explains everything you need to know about how our referral process works—and why it matters.

🧭 Why Supported Housing Matters More Than Ever

In today’s housing crisis, supported housing plays a vital role. It offers more than just a roof—it provides structured support, safety, and the tools needed to regain independence. According to Shelter, over 270,000 people in England are currently experiencing homelessness. Many of these individuals also face complex needs, including:

  • Substance misuse (such as alcohol or drugs)
  • Mental health conditions (like anxiety, PTSD, or depression)
  • Domestic abuse history
  • Learning disabilities
  • Care leavers or ex-offenders with nowhere to go

iSupportedHousing bridges this gap by offering housing with built-in, person-centred support to help people not only survive, but thrive.

📝 Who Can Make a Referral?

We welcome referrals from a wide range of professionals and agencies, as well as from individuals directly. These include:

👩⚕️ Local Authorities
🏥 Probation Services & Youth Offending Teams
🏢 Drug & Alcohol Recovery Services
👥 Charities and Community Organisations
🙋‍♂️ Self-Referrals (You can refer yourself or a loved one if support is needed)

We currently accept referrals for individuals aged 18+ who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including those leaving temporary or unsuitable accommodation in the West Midlands: Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Telford, Kidderminster, and nearby areas.

🔄 What Happens After a Referral?

  1. Submit Your Referral:
Simply complete the form at www.isupportedhousing.co.uk/referrals or contact our team directly.
  2. We’ll Get in Touch:
Our support workers will contact the applicant to arrange a relaxed, informal chat and property viewing. This is a chance to get to know each other and explore whether supported housing is a good fit.
  3. Personal Assessment:
We’ll look at your support needs, current situation, and housing history. This allows us to create a plan tailored to your recovery or progression journey.
  4. Outcome + Move-In:
If successful and space is available, applicants can sometimes move in the same day. If not, we’ll stay in regular contact and place you on our waiting list.
